Summary

• Responsible for assisting providers with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from outpatient services.

Responsibilities

o Performs patient care procedures under supervision of, and in assisting of Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner (i.e. dressing changes, minor procedures, wound photography and measurement). o Escort patient to exam room, obtain medical history, review/update medication list, measure vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation, temperature, and document all information in patient's EMR. o Prepare and administer medications (topical, oral, injections) as directed by Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner. o Authorize prescription refills (per Physician, Physician Assistant, and Nurse Practitioner) and provide prescription information to pharmacies. o Collects specimens as directed and logs accordingly in patient's EMR. o Provides patient education with regards to medications, management of diseases, home treatments and special diets as directed by provider. o Ensure all related reports, labs, and information is available in patient's medical records prior to their appointment. o Maintain supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilizes instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. o Triage and process messages, provide feedback, and answers to patient, providers, staff, and pharmacies. o Maintain logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, expired medications, emergency medications). o Performs front office/receptionist duties as needed. o Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Required o High School Diploma or equivalent o Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a medical office setting or Medical Assistant training program graduate. o Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred o College curriculum o One (1) year Medical Assistant experience in corresponding setting.
