X-Ray, Diagnostic Technologist

Night Program Guidelines:
Sign-on Bonus available: (external and eligible candidates)
>1 year experience: $15,000 with 2-year commitment OR $30,000 with 3-year commitment
The Diagnostic Imaging Technician performs imaging procedures independently, demonstrating proficiency in a variety of technical tasks related to diagnostic radiography. This role requires sound judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply ionizing radiation effectively for diagnostic purposes.

Qualifications:
Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from ARRT approved school of completion of program and scheduled graduation date. Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision by an ARRT certified diagnostic technologist until the degree is verified.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist. Must obtain radiography registry within 12 months of hire date. CPR or BLS Required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

- Must have at least six-months of Imaging experience
- Must work steady nights
- Eligible participants will receive an additional $2 per hour night program differential, ON TOP of their hospital's current off-shift differential, for night hours worked.
- Participants must be in an Imaging role in a regular full-time or part-time status, and work on a unit that requires 24-hour on-site coverage.
- As part of the program, participants must commit to working to the maximum of their budgeted shifts based on FTE status as off-shift hours (12-hour blocks such as 3 p.m. to 3 a.m., 4 p.m. to 4 a.m., etc. or 8-hour blocks such as 11 pm to 7 am, etc.).
- If a participant does not work steady night shifts, they are not eligible to receive the additional differential and their participation will be evaluated for removal from the program.

Responsibilities:
- Patient Identification and Documentation:
- Accurately identifies patients using two identifiers.
- Adheres to universal protocols during procedures.
- Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, following departmental protocols.
- Documents patient history in electronic records.
- Contrast Administration:
- Administers oral (PO) and rectal contrast as per physician orders and department policies.
- Examination Management:
- Ensures proper coding and tracking of all exams within their area of responsibility using the RIS system.
- Networks exams to ISITE for archiving and interpretation.
- Accurately enters charges for performed exams.
- Radiography Procedures:
- Independently performs diagnostic radiography procedures following established protocols.
- Utilizes complex imaging equipment for data acquisition, analysis, manipulation, and documentation.
- Adheres to prescribed protocols during procedures.
- Patient Interaction and Teamwork:
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills with patients and co-workers.
- Displays empathy, dignity, and respect.
- Collaborates effectively within the department and across other teams to expedite patient care.
- Adaptability and Initiative:
- Adjusts protocols based on clinical judgment.
- Applies ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic purposes.
- Patient Education:
- Clearly communicates instructions to patients, alleviating fears and ensuring cooperation during procedures.
