Job Purpose:

The Yard Workers is responsible for operating commercial and/or industrial equipment to load, unload, store, or transport materials or product.

Description of Essential Duties:
  • Practice safe, thorough, and positive work habits.
  • Work under Yard Supervisor and yard team members using applied practices.
  • Unloading, receiving, and taking inventory of scheduled deliveries
  • Stage material production
  • Load completed jobs and secure load to trailers, using D.O.T. requirements.
  • Use rigging techniques to safely move material.
  • Must maintain a clean work environment, taking the initiative to pick up and know how our yard should be kept.
  • Conduct a weekly inventory of yard items being stocked to ensure correct material levels and which items need to be reordered.
  • Maintain an organized work area free from any unnecessary hazards associated with the work being performed.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Must be able to demonstrate safe and positive work habits.
  • Must be able to perform job duties safely and within a timely manner.
  • Must have previous forklift experience.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be willing to work 40 plus hours per week.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Must have a valid driver license.
  • Ability for sitting, standing, walking, forward bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pulling/ pushing and reaching.
  • Ability to be self-directed, with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated and can work alone.

Preferred Abilities:
  • Previous Large-capacity forklift experience.
  • Previous experience rigging and lifting structural steel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, and/or use hands and fingers to handle or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand, and/or walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move and/or pull up to 50 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance) of equipment, material and/or tools which may include lifting 50 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance) above shoulders. Must also be capable of climbing onto trailers or trucks to secure and move equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee works in airborne particles, dust, non-weather heat, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee could be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate but may be loud at certain times. The employee must be available during traditional hours (40 plus per week) to complete assigned tasks according to contract or job requirements.
