Real Estate internships enables students to experience the work environment of a Fortune 150 company while continuing their education. Students gain insight into the U.S. transportation industry while working for an industry leader. The specific work assignments will depend upon the student's qualifications as well as the duration of the work period. Students will be assigned projects and tasks equivalent to those of any analyst entry level position within the Real Estate business group, including analyzing data, responding to customer requests and working with both internal and external customers. Understanding of basic real estate business, concepts and processes is strongly encouraged.

The Real Estate business group, within our Finance department, is seeking students of junior status or below who are interested in working year-round. The student must be able to work 15-25 hours during the school year and full-time during the summer.

Internship opportunities are available in Contracts, Facilities, and supporting our Field Operations teams. We will work with you to determine the best placement based upon your education, skill set and preferences. You will be assigned projects equivalent to those of any Supply analyst and will be given the opportunity to manage a project from start to finish.

As an intern, you will build knowledge and experience in our core business groups and their vision, business objectives, processes, systems, and services. You will have extensive contact with peers and interaction with senior leaders. There will also be an opportunity to put leadership, technical skills, and business knowledge to immediate use through high value project assignments.

The estimated wage for this position is between $20-$26 per hour. Final rate of pay will be based on several factors including year of study, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Accountabilities

  • Learn and perform core department business group work tasks, processes, and customer services
  • Perform administrative support for department business group managers
  • Develop and execute project action plans and perform team assignments
  • Build and strengthen a network of professional contacts within departments and across the company
  • Assist with project management for various company initiatives and complete administrative tasks and special projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications - Required

  • Must be a full-time student
  • College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate degree in Real Estate, Business, Computer Science, Economics or other business-related degrees
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic organization, prioritization and time/project management skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) skills


Qualifications - Preferred

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • College credits towards an undergraduate degree related to Real Estate
  • Intermediate computer skills and able to learn UP's Accounting systems and databases to successfully accomplish desired project results
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills including a demonstrated ability to analyze real estate and legal issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop good working relationships


Physical and Mental Job Requirements

  • This position requires extended periods of sitting and extended hours in front of computer screens
  • Maintains concentration, focuses on tasks and can make timely decisions
