This job opportunity will be compensated as a part-time position with a base hourly rate of $20/hr. There is also opportunity for commission-based compensation. This position could also be used towards school credit if needed for an internship.

As the Youth and Outreach Coordinator for the Houston Havoc, you will be responsible for organizing, developing, and implementing programs and activities that engage and support youth to learn and play Ultimate Frisbee in the greater Houston Area. Your main role is two parts: to design and execute programs that meet the diverse needs and interests of young people, and to increase awareness and potential opportunities for more people to participate in Ultimate Frisbee Youth Events.

This role will work closely with the General Manager and other various members of the organization and be involved in the creation of youth programs for the Houston Havoc. This role will also be working closely with the local ultimate organization - Houston Ultimate Community (HUC) - to coordinate Youth Camps and Events.

The successful candidate will be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a consistent structure, can-do attitude, and top-notch creative execution. Moreover, this individual must take initiative independently and manage ambiguity while embodying the vision, mission, and core values of the Houston Havoc Ultimate Frisbee team.

Responsibilities


Your duties as a Youth and Outreach Coordinator include engaging with schools, community groups and parents/guardians, defining and running events, supervising volunteers, identifying grants and funding opportunities, managing budgets and maintaining program records. You will also need to collaborate with other agencies and organizations to maximize the impact of your programs through partnerships, grants and sponsorship solicitations.

This role requires certifications in youth program support and safety. The cost of these could be covered by Havoc if a successful applicant does not already have them.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience working with youth (ages 5-18) and organizing youth programs
  • Knowledge and understanding of Ultimate or similar sports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for promoting active lifestyles and inclusivity in sports
  • Ability to connect with diverse communities and build relationships
  • Familiarity with the Greater Houston area and its youth programs and sports landscape
  • Experience researching and preparing applications for youth and community grants
  • Basic budgeting and financial reporting
  • Must reside in Greater Houston Area
  • The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation


Nice to Have Qualifications:
  • Associates degree or related experience in a relevant field and relevant certifications, such as Childcare Training, First Aid and CPR, and Youth Work.
  • Spanish language proficiency, or willingness to learn
  • Sports instruction/coaching experience
  • Social Media Marketing experience

This job is contract based, and time requirements will vary seasonally. Summer months will be the high-season.
