The Opportunity

As a dedicated Business Operations Analyst - Intermediate Level, you will focus on enhancing Member Channel/Analytical data through rigorous analytics and ensuring high standards of data quality. The role involves interpreting complex data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement to enhance data quality and effectiveness. The candidate will need to possess strong analytical skills, experience with data visualization techniques, and a keen eye for detail to identify and maintain the integrity of member channel data. The job also requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement information management and data-driven strategies that boost operational performance. Additionally, effective communication skills are essential to translate data insights into actionable business recommendations.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:
  • Fulfills data reporting, analytics and project deliverables based on needs of the department.
  • As needed creates tactical data sets and automation to optimize and resolving business issues for assigned deliverables.
  • Performs advanced compilation, analysis, reporting to provide recommendations of data to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Applies working knowledge in consulting and advising business partners on ad hoc or undefined matters related to business analytics and decision support solutions.
  • Pursues opportunities to utilize data delivery and business solutions techniques to optimize their contribution to resolving business issues.
  • Applies working knowledge of information systems and data infrastructure to provide business and technical guidance to internal clients.
  • Begins to work with key stakeholders to deliver and increase efficiency and effectiveness of the reporting needs.
  • Establishes a working knowledge of business processes, supporting data and applications and strategic direction.
  • Leverages working knowledge of relationship between analytics and business processes to improve delivery, value and integration of analytics into business/enterprise processes.
  • May partner with technology group to define business requirements, perform user acceptance testing and implement changes.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.


What you have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Science discipline; OR 4 years of relevant data and analytics or technical experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 2 years of reporting and/or data management experience with knowledge of data and reporting concepts along with exposure to applicable tools and languages (Example: SQL, Python, GGplot, Tableau)
  • OR
  • Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related degree discipline.
  • Working knowledge of the function/discipline demonstrated through application of knowledge, skills, abilities, and technologies towards work products required. (Example: Querying, Data Wrangling, Report Development, Requirements Gathering).
  • Business acumen developed in the areas of the business operations, industry practices and emerging trends.


What sets you apart:
  • Intermediate SQL skills (joins, views, basic stored procedures)
  • Demonstrated experience presenting reporting and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience multi-tasking and manage multiple requests, including ad-hoc reporting and understanding how to leverage multiple data pools
  • Experience with dashboard and report development pulling from multiple data sources

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $61,110.00 - $116,800.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
