The Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking a Data Scientist with academic research experience for investigator-initiated longitudinal, observational, and registry studies. This new position will primarily support a team of clinician-investigators in the Division of General Internal Medicine comprising the Cancer Care Delivery Research Collaborative to conduct large, data-intensive, health services research studies. Prominent research themes include cancer care delivery, administrative claims databases, registry development, streamlining EMR utility, and improving the quality of care.

Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient with at least one of the following packages: SAS, STATA, R, or Python
- Ability to demonstrate expertise in multiple regression modeling and multilevel modeling
- Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience with network analysis, machine learning and natural language processing.
- Curating datasets joined from underlying structured and unstructured sources, including large Tumor Registries, electronic health records, administrative claims-like data from Parkland, UTSW, and elsewhere.
- Develop statistical analysis plan with the Biostatistician and independently conducting analysis for care delivery research projects for Drs. Megan Mullins, Charles Jiang, and Arthur Hong.
- M.S. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, (Bio)mathematics, (Bio)statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field OR
- B.S. with demonstrated experience in broadly defined areas of bioinformatics. OR
- Two (2) - four (4) years post-graduation experience in data analysis and/or scientific software development.
- Analyzes and develops formalisms, algorithms and software for applications in biomedical research.
- Develops and maintains software tools and infrastructure for resolving specific problems.
- Performs the development, testing and revision of programs in a team with diverse bioinformatics expertise.
- Advises and assists users and other personnel in analyzing, defining and resolving computational problems.
