Minimum Qualifications
This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:


Drainage Operations and Maintenance Assistant:
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
  • Six (6) months experience in maintenance and/or construction and/or concrete work.



Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • Valid Class "C" Driver's License. Must maintain a good driving record.

Physical Requirements:
  • Continuous outdoor activity, frequent sitting, standing, walking, squatting, bending, twisting upper body, climbing, exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, inclement weather, electrical hazards, mechanical hazards, fume/odor hazards, toxic waste/material hazards, occasional kneeling, crawling, carrying/lifting up to ninety (90) pounds ,and Indoor activity.

Drainage Operations and Maintenance I:
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus one (1) year experience in maintenance and/or construction. One (1) year of additional related experience may substitute for one (1) year of high school, up to a maximum of four (4) years.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • Valid Class "A" or "B" Commercial Driver's License ( CDL ) as defined by appropriate work group. Must maintain a good driving record.

  • Continuous outdoor activity, frequent sitting, standing, walking, squatting, bending, twisting upper body, climbing, exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, inclement weather, electrical hazards, mechanical hazards, fume/odor hazards, toxic waste/material hazards, occasional kneeling, crawling, carrying/lifting up to ninety (90) pounds ,and Indoor activity.

Drainage Operations and Maintenance II:
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two (2) years experience in maintenance and/or construction, including 6 months experience in operation of heavy duty equipment.
  • One (1) year of additional related experience may substitute for one (1) year of high school, up to a maximum of four (4) years.

Licenses or Certifications:
  • Valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License ( CDL ). Specific endorsements may be required to be obtained within (90) days of hire. Must maintain a good driving record.

Physical Requirements:

POSITION OVERVIEW :

This position will report to the Open Waterways section of the Field Operations Division.

SALARY RANGE :
Drainage Operations and Maintenance Assistant: $21.78 - $24.50
Drainage Operations and Maintenance I: $22.40 - $25.48
Drainage Operations and Maintenance II: $23.04 - $26.50

RETENTION INCENTIVE BONUS : DOM I, II:
This position may be eligible to participate in the Watershed Protection Department Employee Retention Incentive Plan intended to compensate regular full-time employees in field operations and engineering specific titles. You may receive a bonus of up to $5000! The payment schedule is:
* $1250 after 90 days of employment
* $1250 after 180 days of continuous employment
* $1250 after one (1) year of continuous employment
* $1250 after two (2) years of continuous employment

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS For DOM Assistant:
This position requires a Valid Class "C" Driver's License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. Must maintain a good driving record. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

DRIVING REQUIREMENT For DOM I:

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in conducting pre-trip inspections of mobile equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Experience with traffic control set-up in the Right-of-Way.
  • Flagging Experience.
  • Experience using an Auto-Level or Surveying elevations.
  • Construction knowledge/experience performing work in stream bank stabilization and erosion control projects.
