Overview

Fair Park Dallas is offering a paid internship to local high school students. We are looking for students who want to gain professional level experience and have the initiative and drive to excel. This program will give our nearby local students an opportunity to work alongside professionals in the live entertainment, sports, and venue management industry.

Position Summary:

This seven (7) week internship program will involve hands-on training in multiple departments at Fair Park and its cultural institutions through a variety of traditional and non-traditional means for Fair Park and its venues.
  • Pay: $15.00 / hour
  • Not to exceed 25 hours per week, some nights and weekends may be required
  • Internship Dates: June 10 - July 25 (Mon - Thurs most weeks)
  • Location: Fair Park Dallas

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Exposure to various departments at Fair Park, including but not limited to Guest Services, Community Engagement, Fundraising, Events, Finance, Marketing, Social Media, Security, Operations, Capital Projects-construction, Sales, Facilities, Park/Stadium Management, and Ticketing
  • Perform a variety of daily and event-day responsibilities within the various departments
  • Assist with a variety of responsibilities and projects at Fair Park's Cultural Institutions, which include the African American Museum, the Dallas Historical Society, the State Fair of Texas, Big Tex Urban Gardens and the Texas Discovery Gardens
  • Selected Interns must participate in (1) full days of Intern Fellows Training/Leadership Development Workshops
  • Selected Interns must participate in (5) hours of community service held during the summer internship period
  • Students will participate in weekly trainings and workshops, including but not limited to college preparedness, resume writing, interview skills, and workplace communication
  • Daily duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Must be a rising senior for the school year 2024/2025 or a recent 2024 graduate of James Madison or Lincoln High School
  • Must be at least 17 years old and able to work in the U.S by June 3, 2024
  • Must have completed viewing of Work Readiness Webinar
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or campus leadership
  • GPA of 2.5 or above highly desired
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required
  • Must be self-motivated with a 'can-do' attitude and a strong desire to learn
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Students must meet all guidelines that James Madison and Lincoln High Schools have set forth for this internship program
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Work may extend to help at events including nights and weekends
  • Some positions may include working outdoors, especially for events
