What's the Job?

In this role as a Narratives designer for a fast-growing business application product at Microsoft, you will work alongside your manager and peers to partner closely with the product team including leadership, PMs, Product Design, Marketing, Sales, and Engineering, to create assets that communicate the products vision, mission, and roadmap effectively to both internal and external stakeholders. Your day-to-day will include building presentation decks, crafting customer and partner demos, product UI mockups, supporting video/motion pieces and design of business-critical communication assets.

Juggling, scoping and prioritizing work across multiple projects requires a healthy level of cross-team coordination and agility to ensure a high-quality bar for visual design and consistency. We are in a very transformative and exciting time and teams across Microsoft are functioning with the speed and agility of a start-up. To keep up with this speed, the person filling this role will be comfortable navigating a good amount of uncertainty, ambiguity, and should be able to drive clarity with consistent and quality visual storytelling.

• 5+ years of industry experience in visual communications design, product and/or user experience design
• An impressive design portfolio that demonstrates high quality design work with a solid understanding of layout, typography, color, and grids in line with accessibility standards
• Interest and eagerness to learn and incorporate business storytelling best practices as well as human-centered design process into daily workflow
• Ability to think creatively and critically about ambiguous design challenges
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present your work to peers across disciplines
• Ability to own and drive projects independently as a design SME but also the humility and courage to ask for help where needed
• Comfortable and enthusiastic about working in a complex and highly technical productspace
• Fluent in current design tools such as PowerPoint, Figma,Adobe CC, etc. and an understanding of leveraging design systems

Required:
1. FIGMA | 1 year minimum
2. Word Design experience | 3+ years minimum
3. Strong design portfolio included in submission

PREFERRED (Degrees or certifications, green flags, all other)
• Experience with animation, video editing, prototyping and 3D visual work (C4D/Blender) is not required, but strongly desired
