Duties

As Health Scientist, you will:
  • Advise Division of Environmental Health Science and Practice (DEHSP) scientists on scientific research quality, integrity and ethical standard.
  • Review and clear document, project, research protocol, and publication.
  • Review and clear projects for both scientific merit and regulatory compliance with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Institutional Review Board (IRB).
  • Collaborate with leadership and scientists across the organization and other Centers to coordinate science, strategies, and processes related to Moving Forward and research of common interest to DEHSP mission.

Qualifications

Desired Qualification Requirements/Experience:
  • Scientific principles, concepts, methods, and techniques to analyze, evaluate data.
  • Knowledge of a diverse range of scientific standards, policies, regulations, administrative laws, rules, and precedents applicable to the administration of public health programs.
  • Knowledge of the principles in protecting human research subjects; familiarity or experience with common human subjects' protections issues such as informed consent, privacy, subject selection, and health equity.

Applicants must currently occupy a full-time Career or Career Conditional competitive service position within CDC/ATSDR or an Excepted Service position under the Schedule A, Schedule B, or Veterans Recruitment Appointment Authority within the CDC/ATSDR or Commissioned Corps equivalent, unless otherwise specified in the Announcement.

Education

Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
