This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS), which permits NY State Agencies to hire candidates who meet the "Open to the Public" minimum qualifications for various positions. At this time, the chosen candidate will enter the position via temporary appointment. As long as the employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will change to permanent in June of 2024 with the official launch of NY HELPS. Duties Description Under the direction of the Director of Health and Safety (H&S), will assist with general H&S functions of the Office of H&S and, assigned as the second OCFS point of contact for Office of Health and Safety (develop subject matter expertise), fulfill administrative responsibilities in support of the agency's health and safety programs, assist the Director with all procurement of H&S related program equipment and contracts, assist in research on OSHA/PESH standards to assist with responses to inquiries and inspections; Track completed assessments by offices and DJJOY facilities contacting locations for updates and submittals. Assist with monthly Work Place Violence (WPV) reporting status meeting and updates with Labor Relations; Run PESH reports, create and/or update spreadsheets using workers compensation/PESH injury data for trending; conduct follow-up for incomplete injury information, attend statewide H&S committee meetings and record minutes, assist with development and delivery of safety training and awareness materials, monitor pandemic PPE program, assist with life safety programs including the AED program and Cardiac Life services; Provide administrative support to EAP Coordinators to include procurement duties as needed, attend and distribute EAP committee meeting minutes, research EAP wellness and other programs, maintain EAP resource database and agency wellness calendar, assist EAP coordinators with procuring, coordination and implementing promotion programs to agency staff, assist with the maintenance of EAP Coordinators weekly itineraries and office schedules.

Background Investigation Requirements:
1) All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee's employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees.
2) All prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees will be required to pay any necessary fees.
3) For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable.
