Airswift has been tasked by one of our major clients to seek a Laboratory Technician to work in Old Ocean, TX for a 12 month assignment (subject to extension).

Responsibilities:

  • Climbing and sampling of storage tanks and LPG's
  • Utilizing various sampling equipment on the job
  • Working with sample compositor systems
  • Utilizing Fresh Air SCBA system to sample sour tanks
  • Driving to terminals for sample pickup each shift
  • Bottle room and sample retain/disposal maintenance
  • Ability to work alone as well as in a team
  • Practices good interpersonal skill sets daily; including communication, listening, teamwork, and leadership
  • Takes responsibility for tasks, quality, and accuracy and is accountable for those responsibilities
  • Responsible for the safety/health of self and those working with you, promoting health and safety of others, and performing quality work in a safe and environmentally conscientious manner
  • Responsible for complying with Laboratory policies and procedures, company policies and procedures, established standards, and governmental regulations (Federal, State, and Local)
  • Overtime work required at times
  • Ability to understand and carry out work direction in a safe manner
Basic/Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • TWIC card for terminal access required
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Ability to work alone as well as in a team
  • Daily work attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Able to work 8-hour shift schedule (days and nights)
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis without restrictions
  • Willing and able to perform and comply with the following items, with or without accommodation:
    • To work overtime
    • To lift up to 50 pounds
    • To dawn SCBA and half-masks when needed
    • To work around chemicals, including acids and bases
    • To wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toed shoes, ear and eye protection)
    • To maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven) if applicable
    • To work outside in harsh weather conditions
    • To work with petroleum products that are under high pressure and heat
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years experience with petroleum sampling
  • Good interpersonal skills including active listening, issue resolution, proactive communication, leadership, and teamwork
