Duties

Supports SSA and DDS legacy disability systems. Plans and conducts studies and reviews to ensure implementation of disability systems and policies; plans and coordinates implementation of systems changes in the region and ensures supporting regional systems instructions are prepared; plans for changes in new or revised program and operating procedures and work processes; evaluates SSA's service to the public; analyzes impact of new or revised policies, procedures, and systems initiatives on regional policies; provides technical advice to regional components on interpretation of issuances; provides advice and guidance to Regional Commissioner and Deputy on a variety of projects and initiatives.

Once selected, you will support SSA and Disability Determination Systems (DDS) legacy disability systems and plan and conduct studies and reviews to ensure implementation of disability systems and policies

Qualifications

Specialized Experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of disability programs and understanding of other SSA programs. Applicants must demonstrate familiarity with DDS legacy systems (Micropact St Louis, Micropact Toronto, or MIDAS). Examples of specialized experience include: (1) supporting DDS legacy disability systems; (2) making or reviewing medical determinations for disability claims; (3) participating in disability program reviews and studies; (4) providing technical guidance on disability program policies, procedures, and/or programmatic systems verbally and/or in writing; (5) analyzing disability programs and operations for trends and issues and making recommendations for correction; (6) making written comments on proposed disability regulations and procedures.

Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Applicants for promotion must have 52 weeks at GS-11 or higher.

Time in grade requirement (ICTAP Eligibles Only) must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

In addition to the minimum qualifications, applicants must be eligible under ICTAP, or Certain Military Spouse hiring authority.

In addition to the minimum qualifications, applicants must be eligible under the following category:

In addition to meeting the basic eligibility criteria, ICTAP applicants must be well qualified for the position. Well-qualified is defined as having knowledge, skills, and abilities that clearly exceed the minimum qualification requirements for the position. Under numeric rating procedures, qualified ICTAP applicants must receive a rating of 85 or higher to be eligible for selection.
