Description

Join our team of Material Handlers who have supported operations at Union Pacific Railroad for over 150 years! Receive, inventory, store, and deliver materials and supplies for internal customers. We are powered by our people, will you join our team?

Accountabilities

  • Handle and identify material in receiving, issuing, shipping, and storing operations
  • Maintaining material inventory and providing attention to organization and accuracy is required for all aspects of the position
  • Must possess the capability to recognize and reduce inventory error as accuracy is important in the inventory management
  • Accurately prepare documents and process data used to account for materials being received, stored, issued or shipped in applicable systems
  • Operate highway vehicles, lift trucks, tractors, cranes and other equipment in handling material to/from rail cars, trailers, and trucks; daily inspection and prescribed routine equipment preventative maintenance activities as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
  • Ability to effectively and accurately understand, interpret, reference, evaluate, organize, and record non-technical and technical information
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and efficiently handle controversy
  • Maintain work areas in a neat, clean and secure condition while exposed to inside and outside work environments
  • Must become familiar with Supply Department procedures and meet regular target dates
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills to effectively convey with internal customers, supply chain personnel, and external contacts


Qualifications - Required

  • Valid driver's license
  • Continued employment is contingent upon ability to demonstrate the skill and pass the series of written exams during the probationary period
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills to deliver information to coworker(s) and supervisor(s)
