Operations Engineering Senior Manager in GAC Savannah

Unique Skills:

The preferred candidate will have a history of investing in technical talent development, as well as demonstrated experience leading manufacturing process optimization initiatives in one or more discplines within aerospace and/or product manufacturing.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related curriculum or an equivalent combination education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 8 years experience in aviation maintenance, manufacturing or manufacturing engineering. 4 years supervisory, team lead or demonstrated project management experience required.. Experience credit will be considered for related advance degrees limited to 2 years for Masters Degree and 4 years for PhD in fields applicable to this job position.

Position Purpose:
Establish requirements, operational objectives and work plans for an important segment of Operations Engineering relative to specific aircraft programs. Manage activities through subordinate managers and exercise full oversight of priorities, cost, methods and staffing.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
  1. Manage and develop strategy to ensure an efficient aircraft manufacturing and assembly process .
  2. Oversee the successful implementation of major projects and programs for the corporation and organization through Operations Engineering activities .
  3. Ensure that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are aligned with the business units objectives and are realistically set and attained .
  4. Manage the Operations Engineering group to provide methodized work instructions for the aircraft build, define tooling requirements, manage the product structure and implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize manufacturing processes and eliminate quality defects related to processes/tools .
  5. Engage with the change management/aircraft configuration group to establish aircraft effectivity for all production design changes and ensure major changes to the aircraft are implemented with minimum negative impact .
  6. Conducts personnel evaluations and makes decisions regarding staffing, performance appraisals, counseling, and training of employees .
  7. Responsible for the development and execution of strategic long-term goals of the organization utilizing detailed functional expertise and broad company knowledge .
  8. Conducts briefings for senior level management, and conducts technical meetings for internal/external contacts, suppliers and customers .
  9. Builds positive inter-organizational working relationships that improve performance with key customers .
  10. Provide management with direction for new technologies and state of the art improvements to meet future corporate objectives, to include automation and advanced systems .


Additional Functions:
  1. Responsible for developing, modifying and executing company polices and departmental procedures that affect immediate operation .

  4. Regularly interacts with senior management and key officials of other organizations. Demonstrated ability to influence across functional disciplines and leadership.
  5. Develops and maintains budget for assigned area.
  6. Has direct employee supervision responsibilities and may also have indirect supervision responsibilities.
