Bellin Memorial Hospital Emergency Department

Job Description

This position is for an embedded physical therapy practice in the Bellin Health emergency department. Physical therapists working in this environment will work alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, case management, and more in a team-based and collaborative environment. The physical therapist staffing the emergency department is solely responsible for providing and documenting/billing for consults for patients presenting to the emergency department. During dedicated emergency department shifts, there will be no other schedule the therapist is responsible for besides the emergency department volume. Examples of patient diagnoses include acute musculoskeletal pain, acute dizziness, weakness and falls, and many more. This is an exciting opportunity to join a therapy team with a robust professional development and continuing education plan all while working in a unique and dynamic environment that facilitates a physical therapist to truly practice to the top of his/her licensure.

The amount of time dedicated to the emergency department can be discussed and splits between the emergency department and another department, such as acute care or outpatient therapy, are possible. The position can be full or part time.

For those not experienced in the emergency department, formal mentoring is available as needed focusing on discharge planning, acute pain management, vestibular diagnoses and more.

Qualified candidates will be:

- Flexible with volatile patient volumes in the emergency department

- Passionate about interprofessional communication and teamwork

- Passionate about advocating for the role of the physical therapist within the health care team

- Willing to join a sometimes unfamiliar and dynamic environment
