As the Risk Management Specialist, you will be responsible for leading the identification, communication, measurement and management of potential risks that may impact the institution's operations, reputation, and stakeholders. This position will design and implement programs that are unique to UNL in areas of Risk Management. This position also includes: Investigation, negotiation and settlement of claims in conjunction with General Counsel for the University of Nebraska. Review and approval of on and off campus student events for waivers and insurance. Working in conjunction with personnel to review workers compensation claims and the unemployment program. Review contracts and certificates of insurance from vendors doing business with the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or equivalent education/experience in Finance, Business, risk management, insurance, legal, or related field. Three years of related experience in employment benefits administration, human resources administration, risk management administration or equivalent experiences. Detailed understanding or a working knowledge of the day-to-day administration of a comprehensive benefits program or risk management is essential. Must have strong decision-making skills and the ability to work with a diverse external and internal client base. Knowledge of risk management principles and concepts. Applicants should have excellent interpersonal communication skills. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirement.

Preferred Qualifications
Certification such as Associate in Risk Management or other relevant designation are preferred. Supervisory/leadership experience helpful. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs. Knowledge of worker compensation insurance, risk transfer and prevention preferred.
