Essential Functions and Objectives:

The Senior Manager of Nursing and Health Education plays a crucial leadership role within the Department of Nursing and Student Health. Their responsibilities encompass guiding the team towards establishing top-tier school nursing services. This involves spearheading long-term program development and management, providing staff leadership through coaching, training, and development initiatives, as well as strategic planning to enhance nursing and health education services. Additionally, they ensure that DPS students receive the necessary state and federal mandated school health services. By analyzing operational and strategic requirements within the realm of nursing and health education, the Senior Manager identifies areas for improvement. Collaborating closely with the Director of Nursing Services & Health Education, they foster a team culture driven by data, rooted in values, geared towards continuous learning, and committed to achieving tangible outcomes.

- Oversee and direct managers, team leads, health technicians, and health screeners.

- Facilitate the professional growth of all leadership personnel.

- Create or revise nursing policies and procedures pertaining to student health, medication administration, and emergency response protocols district-wide.

- Assist in managing district-wide systems for collecting and maintaining health office records and initiatives.

- Collaborate with district nurses to foster innovative thinking and introduce new ideas across all facets of nursing and student health.

- Supports and manages health programs and certifications prior to HS graduation student growth and outcomes.

- Project management and subject matter expertise to development of new health programs.

- Ensure decisions promote equity for all students, particularly students of color and students struggling to be successful due to health issues, by having a social justice lens

- Establishes and fosters successful cross functional relationships that strengthen the work of the team and schools and promote positive student outcomes.

- Coach, guide, and equip managers for success through task delegation, resolution of intricate challenges, fostering opportunities for enhancement, and continual performance monitoring.

- Develops and oversees processes for identification, prioritization, allocation and management of health education programs to align work across the district to support the health needs of all DPS students.

- Designs and oversees systems and processes for deployment of all health education services and programs.

- Leads and supports the overall nursing services and health education systems and structures, communications, program development, progress monitoring and improvement, including processes and tools that facilitate broad stakeholder understanding and engagement in school support content, processes and outcomes; leads the analysis of progress monitoring to identify and align the investments, staff resources and championship necessary to implement strategies and achieve impact goals.

- Leads the Cardiac Emergency Response initiatives throughout the district to include, but not limited to AED management, CPR First Aid Trainings.

- Supervises and administers the DPS Screening team and student clinical rotations for Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and CNAs.

- Engage with the community and serve as a liaison with local hospitals.

- Supervises immunization clinics and student wellness programs.

- Coordinates with school administrators to manage mandatory health screenings and ensure immunization compliance.

- Other duties as assigned.



Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- Two (2) or more years of leasing experience.

- Two (2) or more years of management responsibility experience.

- Three (3) or more years experience working in nursing education and/or nursing leadership/administration nursing practice.

- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

- Strong organizational and analytic skills and strong attention to detail.

- Superior leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.

- Ability to develop and interpret data and manage resources.

- Ability to motivate and influence others.

- Ability to effectively lead a team, provide staff supervision and support.

- Ability to multi-task and juggle management of several high-priority projects in parallel.

- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead a high-performing team.

- Ability to communicate diplomatically, persuasively, effective oral, written and presentation skills.

- Ability to provide innovative solutions to challenging situations.

- Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast based environment.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Docs. Google Sheets, Google Slides.

Education Requirements:

-Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Education required.
