JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Physical Medicine Director, organizes and administers prescribed speech language therapy programs in an effort to reduce and/or prevent disability to help patients achieve their maximum functional potential.
First year graduates will be under general supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Evaluates and treats patients as prescribed by referring physician.
  • Records treatment, response, progress and discharge information in patient's chart or enters information into computer.
  • Educates patient, family and significant others regarding condition, treatment and home program.
  • Routinely confers with physician and other practitioners in person, by phone, or in writing, regarding progress, regression or change of plan.
  • Maintains professional growth by attendance of department meetings, inservice and educational conferences. Includes participation in hospital orientation and departmental and community inservice education and programs as directed.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of new programs.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Specific vocational preparation includes an occupationally significant combination of education, training, and on-the-job training.
  • Masters degree from an accredited program in Speech Language Pathology required.
  • Connecticut license or Connecticut license eligible required.
  • First year master's degree graduate (clinical fellow year/CFY) will demonstrate successful intermittent evaluations by the State of Connecticut Department of Health Supervised Professional Experience Plan (SPE).
  • The length of the supervised professional experience period shall be no longer than 12 months full-time employment or 24 months part-time.
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • First year graduates will be under general supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
  • Minimum of one year experience preferred.
