Technical Writer - API-SDK - ITmPowered

Technical Writer will collaborate with programmers, engineers and project management to fully document the technical frameworks, platforms, Developer Portals, and related processes, methods, and standards including; API's, SDK's, Web Services, , reference manuals, user guides, internal documentation, tutorials, and tools. Audiences include; Software Engineers, Developers, Build Engineers, QA/Test Engineers, internal and 3rd party developers, Systems Administrators as well as some non-technical audiences (Project Manager, Business Analysts, Directors, Artists, Designers, Producers, Marketing).

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and maintain technical documentation for application developers (incorporating their code samples, Programming tutorials, developer frameworks, platforms, online help/wiki's, developer guides, tech reference manuals) for our growing enterprise developer platforms suite (API's, SDK's, Web Services, Frameworks, etc.) enabling developers to launch future applications.
  • Create, edit and maintain procedural documentation (Dev/user guides, procedures, workflows, policies).
  • Analyze requirements to determine the type of documentation required. -Develop documentation project plans and timelines, in conjunction with the project management team
  • Formulates documentation plans and works with others to create a comprehensive, accurate schedules; researches audience needs and implements solutions.
  • Researches writing assignments by interviewing engineers, analyzing engineering specifications, and writing code.
  • Writes accurate, concise, and timely documentation; develops and writes code examples; may provide product usability feedback for software development team.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Writer with BA/BS in Computer Science, English, or related field.
  • 5+ years' as a Programmer Writer / Sr. Technical Writer
  • 2-4 years' technical writing for software programming / engineering audiences
  • Proven documentation of API's, Web Services, Development Frameworks, Platforms or Portals.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Acrobat Pro, publishing tools.
  • Understanding of Object Oriented languages and programming concepts - OO Languages Java, C++, XML, Web Services, Objective-C, OO JavaScript, AS3.
  • Familiarity with SQL, MySQL, Linux/Unix, PHP, ActionScript, Flash preferred.
  • Excellent research and information gathering skills
  • Able to structure templates that are easy to update for style and content
  • Able to apply efficiency principles to document design
  • Able to write clear, concise documentation in an informal language
  • Understands the technology project life cycle
  • Understands programming concepts, operating systems, and/or networking
  • Self Driven - able to take on, drive to completion, and deliver multiple technical documentation projects.
