The ideal candidate will possess a business background that enables them engage at the CXO level, deep experience with Mainframes, knowledge of Mainframe specifics infrastructure solutions that will help drive the Mainframe Modernization ecosystem, as well as a sales background that enables them to easily interact with enterprise customers, partners, and the AWS field teams.

Key job responsibilities

- Represent the voice of the customer; bring customer feedback to product teams to influence feature development and future product roadmap.

- Provide advanced technical knowledge to your domain aligned GTM teams to unblock our customers' largest and most critical business challenges.

- Act as a thought leader sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures and public-speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re: Invent, etc.

- Partner with Business Development teams to define the technical components of best in class GTM concepts, solutions, and initiatives.

- Develop and support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts worldwide. Create field enablement materials for the broader SA population, to help them understand how to integrate Amazon Web Services solutions into customer architectures.

A day in the life

As a Mainframe Specialist Solutions Architect at AWS, you'll build technical relationships with customers of all sizes and develop solutions to accelerate their cloud migration journey. You will operate as their trusted advisor, ensuring they get the most out of the cloud at every stage of their journey. You will engage with senior customer leaders and technical stakeholders to help them achieve increased agility and significant business value by advising and defining their migration approach to the cloud.

You'll manage the overall technical relationship between AWS and our customers, making recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability, optimization, and operational efficiency to accelerate their large scale Migration projects.

Internally, you will be the voice of the customer, sharing their needs and wants to inform the roadmap of AWS features. Externally, the Mainframe Migration Specialist Solutions Architect works with large enterprises, helping them effectively lead their migration readiness assessment and migration and modernization strategy.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience

- 5+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience

- 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience

- 5+ years management of technical, customer facing resources

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS

- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $122,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
