Role Summary/Purpose:

The AVP, QE Automation Engineer is a technical specialist who creates automation environments and code for repeated tests on several of Synchrony's client-facing platforms, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions on those platforms. The ideal candidate will work with Product owners, developers, and architects to come up with technical solution for the next generation automated testing capabilities to ensure product quality within the realms of agile environment.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • QE Automation Engineer will have complete ownership for preparing test automation solution, designing automation frameworks and lead the implementation of test strategy, test plans & test execution of the product..
  • Recommends new tools, techniques and methodologies needed to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Lead teams in building/enhancing test automation solutions working closely with product roadmap and stories, developers, and the customer in an agile development practice
  • Participate in full testing life cycle, including agile ceremonies, test case identification/development, development of test automation framework, functional testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Help create test estimates and plans. Represent testing team in project meetings and solution discussions
  • Ensure high standards of availability, scalability, and extensibility of internally developed test automation assets and frameworks
  • Work closely with an experienced staff comprising both Synchrony resources and/or 3rd party contractors
  • Communicate the status of testing status and initiatives to stakeholders and leadership
  • Keep abreast of emerging testing technologies and techniques while maintaining proficiency in existing technologies
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in Information Technology; OR 2) In lieu of the bachelor's degree, a minimum of 9 years of experience in Information Technology
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering processes and automation
  • Experience in GUI, API/Webservices/Database automated testing
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in preparing automation framework with parallel execution (either on-prem or cloud) with various test types, integrated with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Selenium based automation and its eco-system (TestNG/Junit, Maven/Gradle, Cross-browser test etc.)

Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience in testing applications using microservices architecture and cloud-based technologies.
  • Experience in Agile application development methodology; BDD experience would be a plus.
  • Experience preparing POCs for latest testing tools and trends and getting that implemented.
  • Experience in Service Virtualization, TDM, Containerization and cloud technologies.
  • Ability to achieve results in a cross-functional matrix organization involving multiple technologies, personnel, and processes
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Knowledge on Java and OOPS concepts.

Grade/Level: 11

The salary range for this position is 90,000.00 - 155,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • N ew hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
