Department Profile
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.
Team Profile
The Rates Trading team sits within the broader Macro Group (Rates Trading and FXEM Trading) in Fixed Income Product Control. The Rates Trading team consists of 3 employees in NY led by an Executive Director and is supported further by 6 employees in our Baltimore office.
Job summary:
We are looking for a high energy director level candidate for the team, with the willingness and drive to coach and develop staff in both the NY and Baltimore offices. The optimal candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starter with at least 7 years of professional experience, including prior experience in product control, financial reporting or a similar role that has given them exposure to, and understanding of, financial products and markets. The candidate should possess strong relationship management skills given the role will face off to many front office, Market Risk, Operations and Finance clients. The role requires flexibility and the ability to quickly pivot from priorities as needed and the balance of working independently as lead on various initiatives as well as partner with management and colleagues on broader initiatives.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
1) Oversight of daily p&l reporting and control requirements for Rates Trading strategie
2) Month End general ledger close process and disclosure reporting
3) Enhancement of processes related to financial and regulatory reporting
4) Presentation of financial data and partnering with senior BU stakeholder
5) Participation in technological enhancement
6) Support of strategic project

- Proficient in MS Office, specifically a strong command in Excel and Powerpoint

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $175,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
