The Gas Operations Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching, scheduling, and coordinating work orders for various crew crafts using Work Manager and Mobile Data. This role involves obtaining permits, monitoring daily workloads, dispatching emergency orders, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and timely completion of work orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispatch, schedule, and route multiple crew crafts using Work Manager and Mobile Data, utilizing maps, known work locations, and communicating with technicians to route leak complaints effectively.
  • Obtain and manage City of San Antonio (COSA) and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) permits and permit extensions for each work order as needed, and handle all COSA backfill permit notifications.
  • Schedule and update routes for Gas Troublemen for the upcoming week based on staff availability.
  • Prepare monthly productivity reports, including total order counts, completed orders, and orders out of compliance for different work areas.
  • Monitor Gas Troublemen daily workload, redistribute work as necessary, and report any concerns to supervision.
  • Order traffic control barricades and traffic officers to job sites when required.
  • Dispatch leak crews to Grade 1 leaks and 3rd party damages, communicating with crews on work status and completion time to route emergency leak work efficiently.
  • Dispatch Gas Emergency orders to support efforts of achieving a response time of less than 30 minutes.
  • Create and cancel orders as needed for Gas Troublemen or upon the request of supervision.
  • Generate 3rd party damage notifications for internal communication.
  • Request locates from the Texas One Call System for construction crews.
  • Dispatch and schedule welders to job sites to assist with Leak Repair work.
  • Process timesheets for various work areas in Gas Operations.
  • Verify meter removal and installation information in SAP.
  • Communicate and coordinate construction work orders with contractors, COSA inspectors, planners, engineers, and Gas Operations personnel.
  • Plot gas maps and interpret gas sketches, grid maps, and service cards.
  • Produce daily Mobile Data reports for area supervision.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of experience in construction practices and ability to read job designs in MicroStation and GIS, experience with Work Manager, Mobile Data, ability to schedule multiple crafts, knowledge of Dig Tess locates and COSA/TxDOT permitting processes.
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver's License.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, email, and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of using Work Manager, SAP, Mobile Data (Dispatch and Mobile Application), and Regulatory reporting.
  • Favorable driving record.
  • Ability to work in an indoor environment, operate a computer, demonstrate manual dexterity, communicate effectively, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Familiarity with personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functional printer, and copier.
  • Willingness to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, and other business-related events.
  • Flexibility to work various work schedules, including a rotating evening shift, and after-hours work as required.
