Summary

The primary purpose of this Research Technician I position is to focus on high-throughput bulk and single-cell multi-omic data in ocular tissues, dissociate human tissue samples and prepare them for NGS-compatible experiments, and perform a wide range of cellular and molecular biology techniques such as cell culture and CRISPR-mediated genome editing and luciferase assays. The lab focuses on understanding the role of variable gene expression driven by non-coding cis-regulatory sequence variation in the context of age-related macular degeneration.

Job Duties

  • Under close supervision, conducts research activities according to research protocol. Research activities will heavily focus on high-throughput bulk and single-cell multi-omic data (ATAC-seq and RNA-seq) in ocular tissues.
  • Dissociate human tissue samples and prepare them for NGS-compatible experiments.
  • Performs a wide range of cellular and molecular biology techniques, such as cell culture, CRISPR-mediated genome editing and luciferase assays.
  • Assists and develops new technologies and methods.
  • Summarizes, visualizes, and communicates research and analysis findings to the principal investigator.
  • Maintains clean laboratory equipment and/or work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
  • Previous experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS) data for sample preparation and cell culture is a plus.
