THIS POSITION IS OPEN UNTIL FILLED AND MAY CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE Duties include operating various types of equipment and heavy machinery; maintaining and repairing water and / or wastewater systems; answering questions and providing information to the public; preparing a variety of reports; providing assistance in maintaining stock of supplies and materials; supervising one or more maintenance workers in the absence of the crew leader; and performing maintenance support duties necessary to the continued efficient operation of the department. This position may be utilized as part of the in-house pipe laying crew replacing aged water and wastewater systems. A high school diploma or GED and one year related experience, with the ability to operate a backhoe and other heavy equipment, required. One year water and wastewater maintenance experience preferred. Must have knowledge of water boring equipment, pneumatic missiles and other tools / equipment used in the repair and maintenance of water and wastewater mains; have a Class A CDL Texas driver's license; and currently possess state-mandated TCEQ Class C Water and Collection II Wastewater licenses. If not presently licensed at this level, must have Class D Water and Collection I Wastewater licenses and, as a condition of continued employment, obtain Class C and Collection II within a specified timeframe. Day, evening or night shift may be available. Will work in the stand-by repair crew rotation as required. Applicants must submit hours of availability with application.
