Position Summary

The position will involve the statistical analyses of data and any appropriate modeling. The findings will be communicated to specialists and the general public in the form of published research papers and conference presentations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Familiarity with dynamical systems theory, stochastic processes, statistical inference, infectious disease population biology and computational programming in a basic language, such as C or Python.
  • Uses training and experience in a number of diverse fields, including stochastic processes, dynamical systems, computational statistics and epidemiology.
  • Research experience and and education in statistical physics

Scientific Research, Reading, Programming, and Analyses of Data - 55%
  • Developing computational and statistical models of disease transmission
  • Examination of current and historical incidence records
  • Statistical analysis and inference using model-based data analysis

Communicating Research Findings, Writing Papers, and Preparing Research Talks - 20%
  • Communicating regularly and in a timely fashion with the Pl regarding research and other issues relevant to the operation of the laboratory
  • Timely writing of scientific papers
  • Will communicate effectively in person and via electronic means

  • Seek extramural funding to support this position by preparing and submitting grant applications
