The 49er card office provides 49er card credentials and manages the campus ID program. This includes running the software and hardware for dining, vending, and retail locations both on and off campus. Additional responsibilities include Papercut print management, event attendance, and the various software integrations ranging from our parking system to time management, library, housing, and student information system.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and enhancing Business Services IT systems, with a focus on specialized Papercut print management software and Transact Campus point of sale environment knowledge. It will require advanced skills in planning and coordinating work schedules, creation of new practices and processes, as well as adapting and aligning new tools or systems with the current technological environment and workflows as adapting to provide for the present and future Auxiliary Business Services department needs.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
Providing consultation, support, and/or training for information technology-based systems. This position will oversee the technical staff of the 49er card office and associated systems. The position will ensure the department provides technical support for campus card hardware, applications, point of sale, and card reader operating systems, as well as network configuration and troubleshooting of those devices. It may serve as the stakeholder or application subject matter expert for system integration of Business Services systems. This work requires an in-depth understanding of a wide variety of technologies to effectively support clients and provide technical guidance to lower-level Technology Support employees. Employee may serve as a technical expert or specialist in a particular area such as in the applications, point of sale, and card reader operating systems or hardware. Employee interacts with a broad range of clients and/or technology support, requiring very strong communication skills and the ability to use a wide range of technical resources for providing technical support to clients. Employees at this level typically provide advanced support for a broad range of technologies, or in-depth expert support for a narrowly defined area of technology. Employees at this level may be responsible for oversight of programs or projects. The position reports to the Director of Technology for Business Services.
Minimum Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, Engineering, or related areas from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in the Information Technology Field related to the position's role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with campus card or financial transaction systems is required.
  • Management experience is required.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience with Papercut, Transact System Enterprise, Instant ID, Quadpoint, Mobile Credentials, and Transact Mobile ordering preferred.
  • SQL knowledge desired.
