Initial schedule will be 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM M-F with options available upon successful completion of probationary period (6 months). Work will be in office until initial training is completed; then up to 3 days may be allowed as work from home.

You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Abstracts Desk Accounts Examiner II - IV performs entry-level to highly complex (senior-level) accounts examination work in the Finance Division, Tax Collections & Civil Actions Department, Civil Actions Unit. Work involves examining and auditing operating reports and financial accounting records; and collecting taxes, fees, or penalties. Examines Unemployment Insurance tax records of employers to secure collection of past-due taxes in accordance with the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act, Texas Labor Code. Works under close to limited supervision, with minimal to considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
-Review employer tax records to issue past-due notices, notices of assessment and other enforcement actions; determines proper entities upon whom service of legal documents should be accomplished and the method of service in accordance with state statutes.
-Request/recommend issuance of tax liens and bank freeze/levies; prepares sworn accounting documents and other legally acceptable documents used in collecting delinquent taxpayer accounts.
-Review employer accounts to determine if lien release is appropriate; may issue lien releases.
-Communicate with employers, attorneys, accountants, and others to resolve employer tax issues.
-Responds to a heavy workload of telephone calls, electronic mail, digital merging of files and letters from employers or their representatives.
-Perform other duties as assigned.

YOU QUALIFY WITH:
-Accounts Examiner II: Two years of full-time experience in maintaining accounting records or performing auditing work
-Accounts Examiner III: Three years of full-time experience in maintaining accounting records or performing auditing work.
-Accounts Examiner IV: Four years of full-time experience in maintaining accounting records or performing auditing work.
-All Levels: Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position. One year of full-time in-service TWC experience classified as an Accounts Examiner III with regular status will satisfy the minimum qualifications.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:
- Ability to skip trace lost debtors and locate delinquent taxpayer's property or other assets through Commission records, Internet resources, and State and Federal department records for various collection purposes.
- Ability to provide information on tax laws and collection processes to interested parties.
- Ability to compile information for computer entry for production of various legal documents, notices, forms letters, and creation of professional business letters.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of customers, organize and prioritize a workload with multiple tasks and deadlines required.
- Two to four years of experience with the Texas Workforce Commission tax automated system preferred.
- Two to four years of collection experience preferred.
- Two to four years of experience with Microsoft Windows-based PC programs preferred, including Outlook, Word, SharePoint, spreadsheet applications; and editing/merging document with Adobe.
