The Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture in the School of Education and Human Development (effective August 15, 2024, the School of Education and Human Development will change its name to the College of Education and Human Development) at Texas A&M University seeks to hire one open rank clinical faculty member. Prospective candidates will be considered for the titles of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor with a focus in Science Education. This is a full time, nine-month appointment with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025. This is a Academic Professional Track (non-tenure track) position.

Clinical faculty will typically assume an 80% teaching, 10% research, 10% service workload. Teaching responsibilities for this position include 12-semester hours (four courses per semester) with primary emphasis teaching undergraduate preservice teacher science education. Part of this responsibility may include field observations, liaison and coordination efforts, or other leadership roles as defined by the department.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

An earned doctorate in education (Ph.D. or Ed.D) with a depth of study and research in science education or a Ph.D. in a closely related field is required. ABDs are eligible to apply but must include a letter from the thesis advisor indicating degree conferred by start date

Completion of science teacher certification through an accredited program

Experience in teaching courses that address content within the scope of science standards for students, educators, education leaders

Three years of teaching experience in science education in K-12 settings

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching physical, earth, and life sciences

Evidence of the application of high impact learning practices in teaching

Application and integration of evidence-based teaching practices in teacher education responsive to diverse, highly impacted and underrepresented student populations

Three years of teaching experience in science education in K-8 settings

Prior academic scholarship (e.g., publications and research presentations)

Evidence of effective post-secondary teaching experience

Engagement in service activities within an academic department
