Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily operation of Paul Dirac Science Library's Scholar Support Desk and the FSU/FAMU College of Engineering Library's Scholar Support Desk and the suite of services they offer which include in-library circulation, LEDS Locker Pick-Up, In-Library Pick-Up, Course Reserves, the Florida Borrower program, and more.
  • Hire and supervise full-time and part-time employees for Dirac Science Library and College of Engineering Library. This includes approving time-sheets, approving leave, coordinating training, evaluating performance, and professional development.
  • Compile budget reports and projections for staffing and managing the service desks in Dirac and Engineering Libraries.
  • Collaborate with the Access Services & Delivery managers and team members to determine and distribute work assignments to staff.
  • Liaisons with FSU Libraries Outreach and Marketing teams for Dirac and College of Engineering events and activities.
  • Advise Head of Access Services & Delivery on existing circulation services at Dirac and Engineering.
  • Assists the Access Services & Reserve Collections Manager on updating, maintaining, and standardizing policies and procedures for frontline services; stewarding the Dirac and Engineering Course Reserve physical collections, ensuring continuity of service, and maintaining staff training.
  • Collaborates with the ASD Management Team on implementing new and improving existing frontline services to increase access to library materials, resources, and spaces for all members of FSU Libraries' served communities.
  • Leads Fine Management Services for FSU Libraries. Responds to scholar inquiries concerning incurred fines and fees associated with late, lost, or damaged materials.
  • Verifies the accuracy of user accounts, billing information, transaction data, and levied fines.
  • Initiates processes for various fines management functions including charge documents, charge adjustments, and refunds.
  • Confers with area supervisors and department heads to verify accuracy of posted charges and assess suitability of replacement materials.
  • Liaisons with Student Business Services and FSU Libraries Administration staff to address accounts receivable issues and communicate concerns during the billing process.
  • Maintains all Fines Management documentation and accounts receivable files.
  • Maintains and leverages expert knowledge of all of systems used to administer services in ASD, including Alma, Primo, the LibApps suite, FSU Libraries official website, and other software platforms used during the course of daily operations.
  • Represents ASD, Dirac Science Library and Engineering Library on relevant internal and external working groups and committees.
  • Assists in maintaining the security, safety, and functionality of Dirac and Engineering Libraries.
  • Participates in Library promotional activities in order to support the Library.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience related to library services; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)

  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques and methodology.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of project planning, development, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of the concept, principles and practices of management.
  • Knowledge of the policies and practices of library services.
  • Knowledge of collection and/or cash handling procedures and ability to perform monetary transactions.

Anticipated Salary Range

The anticipated starting salary is in the range of the mid to high $40,000's, commensurate with education and experience.
