General Statement of Duties

This is a 12-month (260 days), 8 hours per day position. This position is available on July 1, 2024. Minimum salary is $50,082.00 or based on promotion policy for internal candidates.

Provides essential support in the preparation and management of budgets for the Federal Programs and Foundational Learning program's grants and local operating funds. Establishes and maintains accounting procedures, records, and reports associated with accounting.

Essential Duties

  • Perform functions of financial administration and reporting to include assisting with the development and adjustment of grant and local budgets, coordinating budgeted funds, and screening and processing requests for expenditures;
  • Prepare and maintain reports for reconciling accounts to track grant and local budget expenditures;
  • Reconcile categorical grant payroll and fringe benefits charges on a monthly basis;
  • Prepare salary and fringe benefit projects for budget development;
  • Assist with monitoring revenue projections for current and proposed budgets;
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal policies and procedures to include grant regulations and guidance;
  • Monitor contracts for services essential to program and project implementation;
  • Assist in creating user-friendly financial reports to assist in making data-driven decisions;
  • Assist with financial systems and document management platforms, updates, and reporting and analysis as required;
  • Provide financial and other data necessary to assist with grant writing;
  • Query data to address specific informational requests;
  • Review, analyze, and prepare budget transfer requests to evaluate availability of funds and budgetary impacts; submit budget transfers to finance/budget department;
  • Collect, analyze, and assist in the preparation of categorical funding applications and budget amendments;
  • Review appropriation status reports of expenditures and purchase orders compared to budget on a monthly basis for accuracy and make recommendations for budget adjustments as needed;
  • Collaborate with staff in other offices and departments to prepare the monthly grant summary financial report for Director;
  • Assist with the fiscal year-end closeout process as needed;
  • Assist internal and external auditors with data request and reports as needed;
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and evaluation to assist staff in developing recommendations for programmatic changes;
  • Compose and proofread correspondence for various departments, schools, and vendors on expenditure information and/or payment status;
  • Follow established internal protocols to ensure data accuracy;
  • Serve as a liaison and collaborate with vendors and staff in other offices and departments on issues regarding grant and local budgets;
  • Keep abreast of the most current developments and innovations relation to the position requirements;
  • Manage special projects as assigned;
  • Perform related work as required;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent program area and preferably, one year of professional accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of skills, training, and education which provides the required level of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices of governmental accounting and business management preferred. A high level of competency in the use of computerized accounting applications. Competence in Excel and Google Suites. The ability to organize and process large quantities of detailed accounting information in a concise and orderly fashion.
