We are assisting a highly regarded consumer products company with their search for a Controller. Our client is based in Santa Barbara, CA and they are working a hybrid schedule with four days in the office. The Controller will be an integral part of the Company's leadership team, directly overseeing the accounting operations and playing a crucial role in financial strategy and decision-making. They will manage all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, and budget management. This person will act as the primary financial leader across the organization and work cross-functionally to provide financial insights, set goals and KPIs, and forecast future financial performance. This position is hybrid and based out of the Santa Barbara office.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Company's annual budgeting process and prepare ongoing P&L forecasts based on business and strategy changes
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support operational needs
  • Lead monthly close process, including creating and reviewing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, providing variance analysis, and ensuring all financial statements are accurate and completed in a timely manner
  • Prepare the monthly financial reporting package for distribution to company ownership
  • Oversee day-to-day administration of financial operations including accounts payable/receivable, monitoring bank accounts, managing financing facilities, and overseeing sales tax compliance
  • Create financial models that generate insights and guide decisions to drive strategic and profitable growth
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures that ensure conformity to accounting principles and integrity of our financial statements and records
  • Provide workpapers and supporting schedules to the Company's CPA for annual income tax return preparation and future financial audits
  • Work closely with department leaders to understand their financial needs, drive process efficiency and support their budgetary requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role; preferably with a retail/eCommerce background
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and experience with QuickBooks
  • Strong technical skills in accounting, financial reporting, and analysis
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
