The Office of Vice President for Research seeks to fill an Accounting Specialist position.

Responsibilities

The Accounting Specialist will assist the Sr. Accounting Specialist with budget preparation and help track all outstanding commitments across the University. Assist with the reconciliation and maintenance of the department's general ledgers for the Office of Research. Compiles financial data and monitoring of fund balances of C&G, E&G, Vending, Foundation, and Research Foundation. Check budget availability for unencumbered payments (travel and ePRFs). Help maintain accounting spreadsheets and templates for divisional accounting staff to properly track and reconcile departmental budgets.

Serves as proxy for P-Card transactions and performs monthly P-Card reconciliation for all departmental purchasers. Originates expense reimbursements and payments to vendors through OMNI ePRFs. Responsible for FSURF billing, payment requests, and reimbursements. Prepares DOLs for the Office of the Vice President for Research, the CRC, and other departments/projects as necessary. Enters contracts into OMNI for review and signatures.

Responsible for reviewing Office of Research payroll charges for accuracy. Reviews journal entries and budget increases for accuracy and follows up for corrections if necessary. Coordinates the review and approval process for the Office of Research monthly auxiliary charges. Serves as primary back-up for departmental procurement and travel.

Assists with proposal preparation, review and RAMP submission, including preparation of proposal budgets and other proposal documents as needed per SRA and FSURF. Helps prepare the required documentation in RAMP for award setup, as well as assisting principal investigators with their portion of the RAMP submission. Prepares internal administrative requests for post-award sponsored project activities such as, no-cost extensions, advances, subawards, etc. Receives and processes award amendments, including sending required documents to SRA/FSURF. Responsible for submitting and monitoring progress on non-financial research agreements in RAMP related to the Office of Research.

Assists the Business Operations Manager and Sr. Accounting Specialist with budgetary and financial reporting for the Office of Research by compiling financial data and preparing ad hoc financial reports as requested. Makes recommendations at the department level to ensure university fiscal and administrative policies and procedures are maintained. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

Preferred Qualifications

Accounting, Finance, and OMNI (Business Intelligence and Financials) experience.
