Job Summary:

The Recreation Aide (Activities Aide) provides therapeutic activities to residents that are designed to meet the interests and to improve the physical, mental and psycho-social well-being of each resident according to the comprehensive resident assessment and plan of care. Individual resident programs assist the resident to maintain lifelong interests and self-esteem while promoting physical, cognitive and emotional functioning. The Rec Aide provides activities in accord with the facility policies and procedures and consistent with state and federal laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

1. Carries out invividual and group activities that meet the functional levels, needs and interests (including cultural and religious interests) of each resident. Follows the planned calendar of recreation opportunities.

2. Provides activities to residents requiring individual interventsions that reflect life-long interests (such as music, reading, and visitis with people of shared interests) and that are adapted to the individual's functional abilities and level of participation. Asissts residents with these activities as needed.

3. Completes documentation for assigned elders with quality insight, accurate information and in a timely manner.

4. Adapts activities to match the cognitive and physical functional levels of the residents through the use of task segmentation, verbal prompts, set-up assistance, physical asissts and demonstrations.

5. Must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilties and tasks. Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with supervisors, customers, vendors, and any other person or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.

6. Must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to attendance standards, and work deadlines, beginning and ending assignments on time, and scheduled work breaks where applicable.

7. Must maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.

8. Must show respect for the opinions of others and behave in such a way as to ensure an atmosphere free of needless interruptions, difficulty and/or discrimination.

What you will bring to the job?

1. High School diploma or equivalent required

2. Education in related field, certification as an Activities Professional and/or experience with older adults helpful
