Job Summary:
The Recreational Services Aide assists in planning,organizing and directing activity programs for residents. Recreation services will include physical, creative ,cognitive,social,spiritual and community programs in accordance with the resident needs. The Recreation Aide contributes to the documentation of residents progress towards their goals and response to recreation plan.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
1. Assists in the planning and promoting recreation based on the needs and interests of the residents
2. Encourages social communication through group recreation
3. Provides programs in all recreation component areas on an individual and group basis
4. Assists residents with participation in religious programs
5. Assists residents with leisure recreations
6. Provides individual intervention to identified residents and non-participants of group programs
7. Provides input into the design of monthly recreation services
8. Documents residents attendance and participation level at recreation programs, writes progress notes
9. Attends appropriate in-service training programs
10. Assists in the maintenance ,storage and use of the recreation department supplies
11. Performs other responsibilities as directed by the Recreational Services Director
12. Assists with set up of volunteer and appreciation
13. Assists in transporting residents to and from recreation program
14. Assists with resident council's purpose,attendance and outcomes
15. Facilitates community interaction programs
16. Puts Customer Service First, Ensures that the residents and families receive the highest of quality servic in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals needs and rights
17. Performs other duties as required
Specific Educational/Vocational Requirements:
1. High School degree ot equivalent
2. Prefer previous activity related experience
3. Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the center
4. Must be able to read, write and understand the English language
Job Skills:
1. Effective communicator with excellent verbal and written skills
2. Well-developed organizational abilities
3. Some craft ability/knowledge
4. Perform record keeping and documentation as necessary
5. Ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members,visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
6. Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test
Performs Related Duties:
1. Interact with residents, families, visitors and the Facility subsidary personnel
2. Carries out other tasks as requested in situation where hands-on intervention/participation may be required
