Job Summary
Join us as our Senior Additive Manufacturing (AM) Development Engineer in an exciting new role on a pioneering team. Lead the charge in executing AM projects across multiple business units, and help us navigate uncharted waters in this cutting-edge field..

Your role encompasses designing, analyzing, developing, testing , and validating new AM applications, processes, products, and materials. You will collaborate with lab technicians to operate AM machines, produce prototypes, and conduct thorough testing and data collection, ensuring the successful implementation of innovative AM solutions.

Responsibilities

Design and Analysis:
  • Support development, design, and prototyping of components and/or systems for AM.
  • Analyze and evaluate designs for performance, safety, and efficiency.
  • Conduct simulations and modelling to predict and optimize AM component and/or system behavior.
  • Analyze and evaluate new materials and AM techniques for product applications.

Product Development:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring new AM products from concept to prototype and/or production.
  • Create detailed engineering models and specifications.
  • Utilize engineering principles in the product development process.

Testing and Prototyping:
  • Develop and oversee/conduct experiments and tests to validate AM designs and prototypes.
  • Develop and oversee/conduct experiments and tests, to classify and validate new AM materials for various product applications.
  • Operate AM equipment to produce and evaluate AM designs and prototypes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for product and process improvements.
  • Implement cost-effective solutions to enhance performance.

Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records, including design files, testing data, and reports.
  • Communicate project progress and findings through technical reports and presentations.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Certification in the field of business.
  • 6-10+ years of working experience as a mechanical and/or manufacturing engineer
  • Possess project management skills with the ability to provide training on technical competencies.
  • Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment, adeptly addressing new challenges with proven problem-solving skills.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • Position is site based
  • US Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10-15% (primarily domestic to Ingersoll Rand testing and manufacturing facilities).

Key Competencies
  • Proficiency with CAD software and modeling.
  • Hands on experience and understanding of various AM machines/processes.
  • Knowledge/experience with plastics, polymers, and powder metal materials.
  • Experience and/or understanding of Finite Element (FE) software and analysis.
  • Communicates effectively and clearly.
  • Organization and multitasking.
  • Collaborates well with others.
