About the Role

The School of Pharmacy (SOP) is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach an interactive and experiential course covering the topic of physical and organic chemistry, MEDC 591 001: Topics in Physical and Analytical Chemistry. This 3-credit (3 lecture hour) course during the Fall 2024 semester presents fundamentals of physical and analytical chemistry as relevant to the pharmaceutical sciences. The overall goal is to prepare students for advanced specialized courses, work in the laboratory as well as future work in academia or industry. The course covers topics including thermodynamics, kinetics, quantum mechanics, spectroscopy, statistical thermodynamics, including principles behind instruments that analyze molecules and interactions. Secondly, the course instills an analytical approach to data and measurements by a survey of the analytical chemistry practice. Applications of the fundamentals to real life examples will be an important component of the course.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities include adaptation of and presentation of course lecture and lab content, use of Canvas as the course learning management system, grading of all content, and submission of course evaluation.
