The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine seeks applicants for an Administrative Assistant or Intermediate Administrative Assistant to perform clerical and administrative work in the division of Hematology and Oncology. Administrative Assistants perform work of a clerical nature, providing office support under direct supervision. Work is typically repetitive and follows consistent practice and established procedures. Administrative Assistants consult with supervisors for most decisions outside of standard operating procedures. The successful candidate will join a department that employs outstanding people and is progressive in its initiatives to develop and support its staff, making it a great place to work. The successful candidate will be expected to:
Administrative Assistant
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: None
Intermediate Administrative Assistant
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: At least one year of relevant experience.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $42,000 - $45,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. The Administrative Assistant will report to the Executive Administrator for the Child Health Research Center (CHRC).
This position will remain open until filled. This is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. This position is located in Charlottesville, VA. This position is onsite Monday through Friday and is not available for remote work.
The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. A completed pre-employment health screen is required for this position prior to employment.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide administrative support to Pediatric HemOnc faculty members.
- Be a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Maintain a professional conduct both virtually and in person.
- Type memos, correspondence, forms, and technical or confidential reports.
- Receive and screen incoming calls and mail, answer routine inquiries, and route calls to the appropriate individual.
- Maintain calendars. Schedule and confirm appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements.
- Assist with onboarding of Pediatric faculty members.
- Procurement for HemOnc and P-card responsibilities. Order office/lab supplies as needed.
- Event Coordination if needed.
- Space management and office set up for new Faculty.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
- This position's divisional support and duties may change as needed
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
