The Early Childhood Education and Care Department was established on July 1, 2020. The Department's aim is to create a more cohesive, equitable, and effective early childhood system in New Mexico. That means coordinating a continuum of programs from prenatal to five¿and ensuring that families in every corner of the state can access the services they need.
Interviews will be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
Why does the job exist?
The position will provide clerical support to the Child Care Regional offices, to include but not limited to answering multi-line telephone system, greeting and serving customers, providing support to internal staff, processing and distributing mail, creating and organizing files, maintaining and distributing supplies and vehicles/equipment, maintaining and organizing program forms, spreadsheets and reports. Provides customer service to clients, providers, and internal staff/management. Travel will be required to support regional offices. Other clerical projects or duties as needed to support the regional offices.
How does it get done?
This position requires strong customer service skills in a high volume, fast paced environment. This position also requires extensive use of computers/databases and the ability to multi-task. Ability to work independently in a timely manner.

New Mexico children, families, providers and internal staff/management.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a high School Diploma or GED and one and a half (1.5) years of directly related experience in office administration. Knowledge of SHARE Financials or other related databases. Possess good interpersonal skills, be service orientated, be a proactive problem solver with the ability to multi-task and efficiently prioritize duties.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and three (3) months of directly related experience in office administration. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required. Direct client interaction and some travel may be required.
