Purpose of Your Job Position

The primary purpose of your position is to coordinate and facilitate referrals for potential admissions. The Admissions Coordinator will act as a liaison to the nursing unit to help ensure a smooth transition with the admissions process for all residents. Further, the position will act as a liaison with family members as well as the residents of the Facility.

Delegation of Authority

As Admissions Coordinator you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Education

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience

• Two (2) years prior admissions experience in health care facilities preferred. Ability to type is required.

Specific Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

• Knowledgeable in Medicare requirements and insurance providers i.e. HMO rules, Medicare rules, RUGS II & III, and Medicare prescription plans.

• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors and the general public.

• Must possess the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.

• Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing admission practices.

• Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.

• Must be able to evaluate the performance, initiate disciplinary actions, and prepare and complete performance evaluations for personnel.

• Be knowledgeable in the use of computers (Excel, Word, and Access), data input, retrieval and output functions, etc.

• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as must be willing to handle residents, staff, and visitors, based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
