Job Description

Initiates, leads, conducts and supports research, design, development, and testing of electrical components, equipment software systems and networks, testing of application software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions that support company infrastructure business process and operations. Performs development, testing, evaluation, and design of infrastructure architecture used throughout the IT solution set and the testing of electrical or mechanical hardware such as mechanical and electrical components and circuit boards. Analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls. Prepares operating instructions; designs and develops, compiles and assembles, utility programs and operating systems. Uses established work practices and processes to conduct research, design, development, troubleshooting, and testing of electrical systems and components. Electrical systems and components may include Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems that are used for NNPP shipboard propulsion plant systems as well as laboratory-based systems used to support testing or laboratory infrastructure.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience

Pay Range

$83,600.00 - $130,700.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.
