Position Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) at the Metabolic and Weight Control Center (MWCC) collaborates with MWCC physicians to deliver comprehensive care to patients. This role encompasses clinical duties and offers opportunities for independent patient management.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct outpatient care at MWCC, conducting thorough histories and physical examinations.
  • Assist in adjusting medication doses regularly and assess for adverse effects and medication efficacy.
  • Conduct follow-up patient monitoring examinations.
  • Offer patient support and educate families.
  • Maintain a safe and conducive patient care environment.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians to ensure high-quality patient care within the practice and during cross-coverage responsibilities.
  • Address Telemed messages and inquiries from the front desk by the close of each day.
  • Review diagnostic test results and take appropriate action to manage any abnormalities, communicating findings with patients.
  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues seeking authorization for tests related to patient care.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately in Epic.
  • Apply knowledge of medications, procedures, infection control, and safety protocols, initiating interventions during crises.
  • Assist in obtaining prior authorization for prescribed tests and medications.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nursing or Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant studies, or equivalent in education and experience, plus 1 to 2 years of experience.
  • Current New York State professional license
  • Board certification

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in lifestyle, nutritional, and medication interventions for obesity.
  • Prior clinical care coordinator experience.
  • Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 codes.
  • Proficient in phlebotomy.

Other Requirements
  • Participation in the medical surveillance program
    • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
    • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
