Aerospace Structural Engineer
Niceville, Florida
Employer: DCS Corporation
Industry: Engineering
Salary: Competitive
Job type: Full-Time
DCS Corp has an exciting opportunity for an Aerospace Structural Engineer to support the Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office (AFSEO) Modeling, Analysis, and Tools Support (SEMATS) 3 contract.
The work performed furthers the USAF SEEK EAGLE aircraft/store compatibility effort, as well as broader USAF goals.
Essential Job Functions:
Evaluate the structural integrity of aircraft, weapons, and suspension carriage systems based on approved loads, stress analysis and test methods and provide sound carriage limit recommendations.
Develop and execute sophisticated aircraft load prediction tools for predicting aircraft and weapon inertia and aerodynamic loads and environments.
Develop and execute safe, efficient flight test plans.
Reduce and interpret flight test data.
Assess analysis approaches and results, define any required testing, and ensure all structural integrity requirements are met.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Bachelor degree with 15 or more years of demonstrated experience in an applicable engineering discipline with direct application to the SEEK EAGLE aircraft-store certification process, or a Master's degree with 10 or more years' experience with an ABET accredited degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering.
Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance within 6-9 months.
Desired Skills:
Experience in weapon systems development, integration, structural analysis, and testing.
Familiar with aerospace airworthiness requirements and have up to 15 years of experience with aerospace design and analysis methods including external loads, internal loads and stress analysis methods, and ground and flight testing is desired. The engineer should have a working knowledge of strength of materials, aerodynamics, numerical analyses, and computer programming. The ability to modify existing analysis software for predicting aircraft and store loads is a plus. External loads analysis includes aircraft maneuver response and dynamic response from transient or cyclical loads.
Knowledge of aircraft environments and weapon system environmental qualification testing is desired. Familiarity with one or more programming languages (e.g., Matlab, Fortran, Python, C/C++) is highly desired. Skills in Finite Element Modelling and Analysis methods are also desired.
