ABOUT THIS POSITION

Over 48 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2023, one of the busiest airports in the country in the nation's 5th largest city. Sky Harbor is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System (Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports) which is operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department and has an economic impact of $44.3 billion annually.

The City of Phoenix Aviation Department is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, and talented individual for the vacant Airside Operations Aviation Supervisor II for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. This position interacts heavily with various airport sections, FAA Tower, Airport Duty Manager, airlines, and vendors while collaborating with outside organizations, government agencies, and command center staff. The incumbent will supervise Airside Operations staff and will be responsible for managing administrative tasks and other functions as necessary. Currently, this position will report to the Airside Operations Manager.

Duties for the Airside Supervisor II position include:
  • Manage and monitor day to day airfield operations to include understanding of airport and operational procedures, FAA, TSA, and Aviation AR regulatory requirements and compliance, emergency responses, and NOTAM issuance.
  • Collaborate with multiple Aviation sections, FAA, TSA, CBP, airlines, and aviation partners concerning operational requests and needs.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Demonstrates results focused and solution-driven approach to problem solving.
  • Knowledge and understanding of FAA Part 139, TSA Part 1542 Aviation regulations, and compliance.
  • Proficient oral and written communications skills.
  • Proficient decision-making skills and proven ability to take ownership of day-to-day operating issues.
  • Proficient computer, data entry, and analytical skills with an ability to function in a communications/call center-type environment.
  • Advanced situational awareness and conceptual skills to maximize airfield safety, security, and operations.

SALARY

Pay Range: $26.18 to $47.01 per hour.

Hiring Range: $26.18 to $35.08 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in airport activities or a technically specific area.
  • One year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • Other combinations of education and experience which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
  • Industry credentials such as A.C.E., C.M., etc. are desired.
  • Airside operations is a 24/7 operation. Incumbent must be able to work irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and evenings to assist with 24/7 operational coverage.
