Analytics Engineer

Chicago, Illinois

Employer: The LaSalle Group
Industry: Technology
Salary: Competitive
Job type: Full-Time

We are looking to hire an Analytics Engineer to help build out and run the data and analytics function at LaSalle Network. After years of operating with a lean, scrappy mentality, LaSalle partnered with an outside consulting team to help us identify the right tools and people to invest in, in order to build the foundation for a scalable, sustainable and trusted data and analytics practice. Tech stack for this position includes Snowflake, SQL and Tableau.

The Analytics Engineer role will play a key role in "carrying the torch" and continuing to build out and maintain our analytics hub while engaging with internal stakeholders. As the "go to" subject matter expert, you will set the tone and direction for how this group engages with users and the executive leadership team to help us make better, more informed decisions at every level of the company. This position will have 1 direct report.

Successful candidates will feel comfortable navigating between being heads down in the data and talking regularly with all levels of the business to ensure our analytics solutions are helping drive business decisions. This individual should also be interested in working a hybrid schedule, four days in office.

Analytics Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with outside consulting team to create a compelling BI vision by engaging with senior leaders across the organization, understanding their reporting needs and developing a business intelligence roadmap
  • Create dashboards and reports in Tableau that display insights from LaSalle's data
  • Be able to translate analytics to narrative stories for business decision-making and innovation
  • Create plans for how best to continuously measure progress against business goals
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve any data-related issues that arise, tracing the incorrect metrics in the dashboards and reports back to the enterprise data warehouse (EDW) in Snowflake
  • Define processes for continuously monitoring data quality and build mechanisms to proactively resolve issues before they arise
  • Maintain and add to existing dashboards
  • Monitor and improve database and dashboard performance
  • Answer business user questions about dashboard metrics and functionality
  • Create ad-hoc reports/dashboards as requests come in
  • Extend the data model as needed to support new dashboards and associated metrics
  • Enforce data governance by pointing business users to existing dashboards that can answer their questions (instead of creating new ones each time)
  • Maintain documentation for the EDW, dashboards and enterprise-wide KPIs
  • Work successfully and effectively with executive leadership team, management team and end users
  • Opportunity to own the entire ETL process from the source systems in the future if desired, not required

Requirements:
  • 3+ years of demonstrated quantitative and qualitative data and BI experience, with a strong understanding of data visualization and analytics tools
  • Technical experience with Tableau, SQL, Excel and Snowflake, or similar cloud-database
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on data quality and integrity
  • Comfortable talking to internal stakeholders to understand their business needs and communicating technical concepts to non-technical end users
  • Ability to document detailed BI concepts in the context of user needs, business impacts and technical requirements for data and analytics
  • Strong analytical skills in order to apply business acumen when handing reporting requests
  • Curious problem solver who is eager to "roll up their sleeves" to deliver results
  • Desire to work a hybrid schedule, 3 days in-office, in a hardworking, fun and team-oriented culture
  • Bachelor's degree, certification or related experience in Information Systems, Data Science, Analytics, Business Intelligence or related field

If you are interested in this role and meet the qualifications, please apply today!

Thank you,
