Job Summary:
This position is responsible for all aspects of agricultural field operations which include: tillage, planting and harvest, fertilization and manure handling related to the crop and livestock operations on the Station. This position is also responsible for operating tandem axle trucks and other equipment related to the transportation of equipment, materials, and supplies for the Station and College. This position shall observe all applicable AAALAC Standards (international animal use and care guidelines) and safety standards.

Responsibilities: Operates basic or complex equipment, applies pesticides, and performs physical labor to maintain institutional agriculture in support of institutional goals.
  • 60% Operates, cleans, and repairs basic and complex agricultural machines and equipment to ensure safety and operable functionality and to adhere to established rules, policies, and regulations
  • 5% Applies pesticides in accordance with best practices and established rules, policies, and regulations
  • 10% Stages equipment and machines in preparation of agricultural activities
  • 5% Maintains organization of designated facilities and associated supplies, notifies appropriate entities of damaged materials or the need for supply replenishment
  • 10% Documents completion of duties according to established policies and procedures
  • 10% Operates vehicles over 26,000 lbs. to deliver and receive freight and inspects, loads, and unloads materials to ensure safe and efficient transport.

Qualifications:
Required:
-Experience operating agricultural equipment such as tandem axle trucks and/or other similar equipment for tillage, planting and harvesting, fertilization and manure handling of crop and livestock operations, and to transport materials, supplies, etc.
-Experience in equipment repair and maintenance

Preferred:
-Hold a Class B Commercial Driver's License
-Hold a Commercial Pesticide Applicator license
License/Certification:

Work Schedule:
Normal hours are 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional nights and weekends may be required for this position.

Additional Information:
-Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm daily.
Occasional extra hours during the week, weekends, and holidays as needed.
-Will be required to regularly lift up to 60 lbs. and climb heights
to 60 ft. on ladders on silos and grain elevators
-Must be able to work periodically in confined spaces and in dusty/moldy conditions (with proper Personal Protective Equipment).
-Hold a valid Wisconsin Driver's License that meets UW Risk Management standards.
-Hold or obtain within 6 months a valid Commercial Driver's License, Class B.
-Hold or obtain within 6 months a valid Pesticide Applicator's License.
-Obtain valid Respirator Fit Test and Training Certification.
-Criminal Background Check will be required
-Probationary Period will be required
