Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) Position Summary:

Working under the direction of the CNO, the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care to patients. The ideal candidate for this role will be a nurse leader who comes from a strong background in leadership and possesses medical/surgical skills and knowledge of psychiatric nursing. Our continuum of care includes inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services to stabilize symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other behavioral health disorders.

Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Reporting to the CNO, the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) is responsible for ensuring high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management as related to patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, TDSHS and all other applicable regulatory standards; provide education to nursing department staff as required.
  • Participate in the nursing leadership team by assisting in the development of nursing policies and procedures.
  • In consultation with the CNO and Staffing Coordinator, assist in determining staffing needs and core staff requirements; demonstrate an understanding of FTE management in relation to patient acuity and census.
  • Ensure both formal and informal systems of communication with all staff, ensuring thorough and timely distribution of vital facility and departmental information.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing; Masters Degree in Nursing required.

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience with demonstrated leadership and management skills. Prior experience in a supervisory role is preferred.

Licensure: Currently licensed as an RN to practice as issued by the Texas State Board of Nursing.

Certifications: Successful completion of CPR and Handle With Care certification; certifications may be obtained during orientation.

Additional Requirements : Thorough knowledge of JCAHO, Medicare, OSHA, and state and federal regulatory requirements.
