Department Summary

The UNT Dallas College of Law is a Fully Approved ABA public law school in downtown Dallas with a full-time day division and a part-time evening division.
The UNT Dallas College of Law is meeting our goal to widen access to legal education. We are committed to serving a wide range of students who have the potential to be successful lawyers.

The College of Law's goals are: (1) widening access to legal education for those who could be superb legal professionals but who cannot realistically access a legal education given factors including location, cost, and the current role of the LSAT in admission to and financing of law school; (2) providing an educational program focused on excellence in developing practice-related competencies, through a curriculum mapped to those competencies and using best instructional practices, including multiple formative and summative assessment throughout, engaged class design, and a spectrum of experiential education; (3) creating opportunity for our students by keeping tuition and debt low and producing graduates with high value and ability in multiple segments of the market for legal services; (4) becoming a national leader in advancing understanding of best legal education practices, of professional formation, and of the relationship between legal education and the evolving practice and business of law; (5) improving access to justice for underserved legal needs; and (6) serving as a valuable partner in civic engagement with the City of Dallas and the North Texas region.

Position Overview

The UNT Dallas College of Law welcomes applications from law school admissions professionals who are interested in serving as our next Assistant Dean for Admissions and Scholarships. The appointment will be as Assistant Dean for Admissions and Scholarships in the UNT Dallas College of Law. The Assistant Dean for Admissions and Scholarship provides the vision and administrative leadership for all functions relating to admission to the JD program.

The Assistant Dean of Admissions actively recruits individuals who are well qualified to attend the UNT Dallas College of Law. The Assistant Dean of Admissions also serves as a member of the College of Laws Admissions Committee to evaluate the academic records and other qualifications of individuals who wish to attend UNT Dallas College of Law. The Assistant Dean of Admissions reports to the Dean and works in a collaborative relationship with the faculty, other offices within the law school, and the legal community. This position requires travel and attendance at on and off campus events during and outside normal business hours. Some additional interstate travel will be required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree; a valid driver's license and the ability to travel during peak recruitment season; and four or more years of closely-related professional experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of internal constituents, particularly the Dean, faculty, administrators, and students of the College of Law, as well as counterparts in other organizations within the University; and
  • Exceptional communication skills, including effective writing and public speaking.

Preferred Qualifications
  • J.D. degree; minimum of seven years of professional experience in higher education recruiting and admissions with progressively more responsible experience in higher education admissions and/or enrollment management.

Job Duties:
  • Manage Admissions Staff and budget. work effectively with all levels of internal constituents, particularly the Dean, faculty, administrators, and students in the College of Law, as well as counterparts in other organizations within the University.
  • Additional duties as assigned from the Dean of the Law School and other organizations within the University.
  • Law schools chief admissions officer: provide the vision and administrative leadership for all functions relating to admission to the JD program.
  • Developing and implementing an admissions process consistent with the goals described above and Utilizing comprehensive and data informed methods relating to enrollment, retention and scholarship.
  • Enrollment management, including developing, implementing, evaluating, and revising an annual recruitment and admissions plan in collaboration with the law school faculty and administration.
  • Travel and attendance at on and of campus events during and outside of normal business hours.

Work Schedule:
  • Monday- Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm with some evening and weekend hours particularly during peak recruiting season.
